History
BeginningsI'm from Gdynia in Poland. I started programming when I was 13 and C++ was my first programming language. Throughout high school and middle school, I spent a lot of time learning algorithms and participated in Polish Olympiads in Informatics. My school focused heavily on teaching programming and expected from the students to excel in programming competitions. I earned a bachelor's degree in Informatics from the GdaĆsk University of Technology in 2018.
Game developmentI've always wanted to build something original and create a product that others would use and enjoy. This is why I enjoyed programming and making games in my free time. I've managed to start hundreds of small projects (using C++, SFML, SDL, OpenGL, Allegro, wxWidgets, Irrlicht, ENet, Qt, C#, C, Java, GTK#, PHP, ASP.NET, Unity, and more), which almost all eventually failed for various reasons. This was a huge learning experience for me.
RimWorldIn 2014, at the age of 19, I found RimWorld, contacted Tynan Sylvester, and started working with him on the project. I've spent more than 10 years developing RimWorld and it's been an amazing journey. Starting as one of the only two programmers (me and Tynan) and eventually taking the role of the Technical Director helped me gain a lot of experience. Ludeon is now hiring over twenty people.
RicaveI started working on Ricave on the 14th of June 2020. I came up with the idea of a turn-based, tile-based 3D roguelike, and I realized that I really like it because it's something original. I couldn't think of any other similar game (the closest one was probably Legend of Grimrock or Barony). Since the genre wasn't very popular, developing the game seemed quite risky from the profitability standpoint, though it was more of a passion/hobby project. Additionally, using first person perspective exposed many UI challenges. My goal was to ensure that every, no matter how small feature added to the game had to be implemented properly. This was possible because I didn't have any deadlines at first. To this day, I continue to develop Ricave and try to make it better each day.
